Benson City Cemetery
A five-member committee appointed by the City Council oversees the Benson City Cemetery. The purpose of this committee is to advise and assist the City Council in administration, maintenance, and improvements of the Benson City Cemetery.
Cemetery Hours: The cemetery will be open to visitors during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to sunset.
Monuments and Marker

A monument installation form and permit fee must be submitted prior to having a monument or marker installed.(fees listed below)

Every monument and marker shall be placed in the space shown on the cemetery plat or as directed by the superintendent.

No monument or marker may be placed unless the location has been approved and full purchase price of the lot has been paid. No monument or marker may be constructed of limestone, sandstone, wood or other material, which will not assure relative permanency.

Every grave shall be marked with a permanent marker within one year from date of burial.

Monument restrictions shall not apply to monuments provided by the federal government.

The City of Benson does not allow stacking of burial vaults, due to soil conditions and water table fluctuation.

Permanent Care & Improvement Fund
This fund was created for maintaining, caring for, and improving the cemetery and cemetery lots in the Benson City Cemetery. Proceeds to the fund are collected by the City Clerk from the sale of lots by the City and shall equal 20% of the sale price.
Donations and Memorial Gifts
Any interested individual(s) or organization(s) may give the Benson City Cemetery a donation to place within its Permanent Care and Improvement Fund.
Cemetery Registry
The Benson City Cemetery Registry is located to the left of the main entrance. The registry lists all those that have been laid to rest in the City Cemetery. The names are listed alphabetically on the registry board. Next to each name is the block or section number with the lot number where the grave is located. Maps are available at the registry area.
The Veterans War Memorial
The Veterans War Memorial is located to the right of the main entrance to the Benson City Cemetery. It was erected to honor Veterans from the following wars:

Spanish-American War
World War I
World War II
Korean War
Vietnam War
Persian Gulf War
