The Presidential Election will be held on November 5, 2024
The Benson City Council will have 3 vacancies up for election in November; 1 - Mayor and 2 Council Members
2024 ELECTION SCHEDULE
March 4 - Public Accuracy Test at 9 a.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall
March 5, 2024 - Presidential Nomination Primary (PNP) Election Day - Polls are open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
July 30-August 13, 2024- Filing to run for City Council time period. There is a $2 filing fee.
August 12, 2024 - Public Accuracy Testing for General Election 9 a.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall
August 13, 2024 - General Primary Election Day - Polls are open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
November 4, 2024 - There will be a public Accuracy test at 9 a.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
November 5, 2024 - General Election Day - Polls are open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Polling Place for Benson Residents:
McKinney's on Southside - 300 - 14th Street South, Benson
Handicapped parking is available in the parking lot on the west side of McKinney's.
Municipal Elections
Municipal Elections are held on even number years.
Registration
Before you can vote, you must register. To have your name appear on the polling place roster, you must register at least 20 days prior to Election Day, or you may register on Election Day at the polling place. You may register to vote by completing a Voter Registration Application and submitting it by mail or in-person to the Swift County Auditor, Swift County's Election Official (mailing address: P.O. Box 288, Benson, MN 56215 or located at: 301-14th St. No., Benson, MN 56215). If you have moved, changed your name, or have not voted for four consecutive years, you will need to fill out a new Voter Registration Application.
